About Misia Kitchen – Homemade Baby Food & Family Recipes

Hi, and welcome to Misia Kitchen! I’m Ivana, a mom of three, and here I share the homemade baby food I prepared for my children, along with simple meal ideas for toddlers and older kids.

What began as a personal baby food diary has grown into a collection of recipes, cooking videos and experiences that I hope will make preparing homemade meals a little easier for other families.

How My Baby Food Journey Began

When my first baby was approaching the age for starting solids, I felt overwhelmed. I wasn’t sure when to begin, which foods to offer first or how to prepare them.

The more I read about nutrition in those early months, the more questions I had. Like many first-time moms, I wanted to do everything right, so I asked people I trusted, including our doctors, family members and my own mom. I also followed the feeding diary of another mother who was a doctor, and her experience helped me feel more confident.

I didn’t invent these recipes. I collected ideas from baby food cookbooks, websites and other parents, then prepared them in my own kitchen, adapting them to the ingredients I had and to what my babies liked.

With my second child, things became a little easier. By the time I started introducing solids to my third child, I decided to film the meals I was making, beginning with our very first purees.

That’s how Misia Kitchen began.

Why I Created Misia Kitchen

I started recording my meals because I wanted to show how simple homemade baby food can be. Over time, those videos became a collection of baby food recipes, from single-ingredient purees to different combinations of vegetables, fruits, grains and other foods.

I created this blog to bring those recipes together in one place, with written instructions, preparation tips and videos that parents can follow in their own kitchens.

My children have grown since then, and our family meals have changed along the way. Alongside my baby food diary, I’ll be adding recipes, articles and cooking videos for toddlers and older children.

My hope is that Misia Kitchen will grow alongside your family, offering simple homemade meal ideas for different stages of childhood.

Many of my earlier recipes are smooth purees, because that was how I prepared food for my babies at the time. You’ll find more about how I use age labels in the note below.

My Approach to Homemade Food

I enjoy preparing homemade meals with familiar ingredients and simple cooking methods. I don’t believe every meal needs to be complicated or look perfect. What matters to me is offering a variety of foods and finding meals that work for my family.

The recipes I share are meals I actually cooked for my children, many of them inspired by cookbooks, websites and other parents, and adapted in my own kitchen. I hope they give you ideas that you can adapt to your own family’s tastes, needs and routines.

A Note About My Recipes and Feeding Recommendations

I’m a mom sharing my personal experience, not a pediatrician or registered dietitian.

Most of my baby food videos were recorded between 2019 and 2020, while I was introducing solid foods to my third baby. The age labels on my recipes, such as 6+, 7+, 8+ and 9+ months, show the month of our feeding diary when I made each recipe. They are not rules about when your baby should eat a particular food.

Infant feeding recommendations have changed in some ways since then, for example in how early different textures and foods are introduced. I keep my recipes and videos exactly as I made them, as an honest record of our journey, not as a feeding plan for your baby.

Every baby develops at their own pace. Before starting solids or introducing new foods, talk to your pediatrician and follow the current guidance in your country. Use my recipes as inspiration, and adapt the textures, ingredients and timing to your own baby.

Let’s Keep Cooking Together
